What is your Christmas?
Every Christmas I used to look forward to what I'm getting. However, as I got older, I realized that I'm the only person who got gifts on my birthday. (Ok. So did my sister, for I was a twin. But, flow with the point!) For the past few Christmases, I've noticed that we have distorted the TRUE reason for the season! We look forward to what WE get and what WE get OTHERS. Out of all of the gifts we get others, what do we give the Person whom we recognize as His birthday? We have set aside this time to observe as Jesus' birthday (which isn't Jesus' actual birthday. Check with your biblical scholars.). What greater gift do we get Him? Do we truthfully even think about Him on Christmas? Don't get me wrong. The Lord wants us to enjoy family and friends at this time of the year. However, some of us need to remember who's birthday we're celebrating. Imagine someone assembling a great party for your birthday only for you to show up and everybody else receiving gifts EXCEPT you! Truth be told, we can never BUY a gift to appease what Jesus has done for us. But we do have something that we could give Him that's close to it: OUR LIFE! To everyone, don't get caught up in what YOU are getting or what YOU are getting OTHERS! What YOU give Jesus on HIS day is most important! Merry Christmas to all who read this and have a blessed New Year!
